Can you withdraw cash with a credit card?
Last updated: 20 May 2026
The difference from ordinary purchases matters: on purchases you have an interest-free period if you pay on time, but on cash withdrawals interest starts immediately with most issuers. That makes withdrawals one of the most expensive ways to use a credit card.
The fee comes on top of the interest. A NOK 2,000 withdrawal with a 2% fee costs NOK 40 in fees plus interest until you pay it back. If you need cash, a debit card is almost always cheaper.
Bank Norwegian credit card and TF Bank Mastercard stand out with fee-free withdrawals, including abroad, combined with 0% foreign transaction fee. But interest still accrues from day one here too, so pay the withdrawal back quickly.
